United Way Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District is addressing the root causes of poverty, working with multiple community partners on strategies which reduce the impact of low income on the health and well-being of individuals and families in our community.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at United Way Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District.

We are endlessly thankful for the dedicated individuals who step up to make a difference, whether it’s through supporting our events, assisting with programs, or sharing their unique talents.

Volunteers are critical to our work and create meaningful and lasting change in our communities. Whether you’re interested in sharing your expertise by joining one of our committees, have a few hours to help at a special event, or you’re retired and want to spend more time supporting your community, we can help you find the right opportunity.

IN YOUR WORKPLACE

  • Run a Workplace Campaign! Starting a Workplace Campaign is easy and we're here to help you every step of the way.
  • Create a fundraising committee
  • Volunteer as a Canvasser
  • Encourage your employer to participate in United Way's Sponsored Employee Program

FOR INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES

  • Host a third party event for United Way- be creative and have fun with all proceeds benefiting United Way's investments in your community
  • Plan a Day of Caring
  • Volunteer at United Way's Harvest Algoma
  • Join one of our volunteer committees such as: Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet, Community Investment Committee and Marketing Committee
  • Volunteer as a tax preparer with our Community Volunteer Income Tax Program

FOR STUDENTS

  • United Way seeks to provide a learning environment for students from Algoma University and Sault College. Internship or student placement opportunities may be negotiated in areas related to communications, fund development and social work.
